He was Poet, novelist, columnist, and dramatist. He was known as one of the innovators of Jazz Poetry, Leader of Harlem Renaissance. Some of his well-known works are Montage of a Dream Deferred, The Negro Speaks of Rivers. He passed away on May 22, 1967 in New York City.
