A. PROFILE

Profile is a short description of a person's life and career. It highlights the personal details and major achievements of the person described. Given data should be prioritised and linked logically.

1. Give a title usually the name of the person
2. Use only the details provided: don't add extra details or don't skip given details.
3. Organize the given data logically and coherently
4. Use appropriate linkers and cohesive devices wherever necessary
5. Develop the hints in well constructed sentences using supporting details
6. Use appropriate descriptive words
7. Should be concise and precise


B. OFFICIAL / FORMAL LETTER

1. Sender’s address ( Name and Address)
2. Date
3. Receiver’s address (Name and Address)
4. Salutation ( Sir/Madam, Dear Sir)
5. Subject ( Information / complaints/ request)
6. Opening sentence Message ( body of the letter)
7. Closing sentence. (Hope you will take necessary steps at the earliest...)
8. Farewell Phrase ( Yours faithfully/sincerely)
9. Signature
10. Name

Points to remember
Use formal language
Organize ideas in a standard way
Write senders address and date on the left top
Write receiver's address to the left just below sender's address
-sir/madam/ to whom it may concern

Paragraph 1. Explain why you are writing
                    2. Explain the problem
                    3. Explain the inconvenience it has caused to you
                    4. Explain what you want done about the problem.

B1 . FRIENDLY / INFORMAL LETTER

C. DIARY ENTRY

1. Write day, date and month (ദിവസം, തിയതി, വര്‍ഷം എന്നിവ രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുക)
2. Give a striking opening and a proper ending ( ആകർഷകമായ തുടക്കവും ഉചിതമായ അവസാനവും )
You may use the following
* What a memorable day!
* What a terrible experience!
* Today is the happiest day of my life!
3. Use First person narrative. ( use I, me, my, mine pronouns- സർവ്വനാമം ഉപയോഗിക്കുക )
4. Use interjections and exclamations to express emotions and excitements.
Oh God!, How Beautiful!, How bad!
ആശ്ചര്യത്തെ / വികാരങ്ങളെ പ്രകടിപ്പിക്കുന്ന പദങ്ങൾ ഉപയോഗിക്കുക )
5. Add questions 
Why am I so crazy?  Why me? Why can't I do things properly? etc.

D. NEWSPAPER REPORT

1. Headline - Headline is the most important part of a newspaper report – it should be attractive.      It should catch the attention of the readers.
2. Byline - The byline on a newspaper or magazine article gives the name of the writer of the
    article.
3. Lead - The First sentence should be the expansion of the title. It gives the most important
    information. It should answer questions like – What, When, Where, Who, Why and How etc.
4. Body of the text – (a) Major Details
   (b) Minor details
   (c) Quotations – What someone says about the event or incident. It can be the
    reporter’s comment. Usually such comments are shown in “” inverted commas.


E. NOTICE

A notice is an important piece of information for the public.
(a)  Notice of a function
1. Title - NOTICE (Write in capital letters)
2. Name of School  ( ABC SCHOOL, PALLICKAL)
3. Heading/topic  ( Eg. ART FEST / READING WEEK / ONAM CELEBRATION etc.)
4. Salutation - (Dear Friends ,) അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യുക 
5. Proper beginning
         What (Event/purpose)                 (Eg. The English of our school is conducting...........................                                                                   in connection with ..........)
         When (time/date)                          ( Eg - on  11 July 2021 at 11:00 am)

F. SPEECH

1. Salutation (Eg. Ladies and gentlemen/ Honourable Dignitaries on dias /  respected chief guests/ headmaster, teachers and all my dear friends etc)           അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്യുക 
2. Introduction -  I am very happy to be here before you to speak a few words...../ It is a day of pride for everyone of us... / We have gathered here etc  (വിഷയം അവതരിപ്പിക്കയുക )
3. Present the ideas clearly and precisely. ആശയങ്ങൾ വ്യക്‌തമായും കൃത്യമായും അവതരിപ്പിക്കയുക 
4. Conclusion - Present your conclusions and their implications, then your next steps for moving forward.
5. Farewell Phrase (Eg. Thank you all, have a great day.)


G. NARRATIVE 
A narrative is a story or series of events you write or tell someone usually in great detail

1. Suitable Title
2. Logical sequencing of events with a beginning, middle and ending.
3. Express the theme/message properly.
4. Use suitable vocabulary and varied sentence structure. 
5. Use figurative language

H. WRITE - UP
A write-up is a short article that describes what a person thinks about a book, an incident, a place, a character, etc. It may contain the writer's opinion or point of view.

1. A suitable title
2. Begin with a striking idea.
3. Sequencing of ideas. 
4. Use a variety of sentences.
5. Give an appropriate conclusion.

I. CHARACTER SKETCH

1. Identify and introduce the character
2. Describe the role and significance of the character in the story.
3. Physical appearance of the character.
4. Personality traits of the character
5. Relationship with others
6. A general comment about the character.

J. CONVERSATION

1. Identify the relationship between the people engaged in the conversation.
2. Use apt initiation ( a good beginning)
3. Focus the conversation on the assigned context and maintain a good flow.
4. Use a variety of sentence patterns and expressions.
5. Use informal expressions ( Interjections, contracted forms, etc.)
6. Create a feeling of completion.
