Worksheet 1

CONDITIONAL CLAUSES
There are 4 basic types of conditionals: Type 0, Type 1, Type 2, and Type 3.                                              The zero conditional expresses something that is considered to be a universal truth or when one action always follows another.
Example:
1. If you heat ice, it melts.
2. If you push the door, it opens.
3. If you mix blue and yellow colours, you get green.
4. The machine starts working If you press this button.

Type 1 condition is used to talk about possible results or situations in the future.
1. If you study well, you will pass.
2. If he invites me, I will go to the party.
3. If they work hard, they will get a good income.
4. If Tarun wins the race, Ram Narayan will train him.

Type 2 condition is used to talk about an unlikely or hypothetical condition and its probable result.
1. If you studied well, you would pass.
2. If he invited me, I would go to the party.
3. If they worked hard, they would get a good income.
4. If Tarun won the race, Ram Narayan would train him.

Type 3 condition is used to talk about a condition that is truly hypothetical and unreal, as it is now too late for the condition or its result to exist. Mostly this type of condition is used to express regret.
1. If you had studied well, you would have passed.
2. If he had invited me, I would have gone to the party.
3. If they had worked hard, they would have got a good income.
4. If Tarun had won the race, Ram Narayan would have trained him.
